Many different studies taken from life, in different media, including oils, pastels and mixed media.
Figurative studies have been the main focus of my work for over twenty years. I have always enjoyed the challenge, transferring the skills I have learnt from this process to the rest of my work.
A different medium: three-dimensional figures instead of two-dimensional. Mainly in clay, but sometimes in resin and, occasionally, bronze and Hebbel stone. Usually, a 3D figure is based on drawings taken from life, or occasionally sculpted directly from life. To catch motion or difficult- to-hold poses I use a camera.
I use a variety of found materials for the abstract sculptures- often items sourced on our land. Drawings and paintings utilise mediums such as those used for Landsacpes
Studies of objects such as fruit, flowers, food and everyday items, drawn and painted. It is trying to catch both their essence, the play of light across their surface and the ‘feel’ of their surroundings in one’s own style. I use a mixture of mediums , collage, pencil and charcoal, washes of paint.
